Sister Patricia Jean putting out rosaries at our table at a vocation fair. |
Vocation fairs are a good way to introduce people to the many different orders in the Church. Each order has their own Charism. Each order has a unique way of living out the evangelical counsels. When God gives a woman a vocation to religious life, He also calls her to the community He wishes her to join.
On Sunday, we will be attending the Closing Vespers for the Year of Mercy. It has been a wonderful Year of Mercy for the whole Church and I'm sure we will be experiencing the graces from this special year for many years to come. The whole Catholic Church celebrated the Year of Mercy throughout the world. Think of all the prayers that have been offered throughout this past year. It almost boggles the mind to think of all the spiritual and corporal act of mercy that have been performed this year throughout the world. How many people received the graces from going through the Holy Doors? How many people were moved to return to the Church? How many people reignited their love of God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
And now the challenge is to continue doing those act of mercy. Just because the Year of Mercy will end doesn't mean that we can go back to our old way of living. We must continue to show the world the mercy of God by showing mercy to those around us.
