A Day in the Life: Still Among the Living

You may have noticed that I've been on a bit of a hiatus for a few weeks. Summer will do that to you. I used to have this idea that I would have more free time in the summer but that misconception has been thoroughly dismissed from my mind at this point.

The last several weeks have been quite eventful. June of course brought the SJA PigFest weekend, as well as a beautiful retreat given by Fr. Frank Pavone of the Priests for Life. We were blessed to have Father as our retreat master for six days of silent reflection and rest. Keeping silence for a week is not always easy, but is always rewarding.

Earlier this month I attended a high school youth conference along with another of our Sisters. Ignite Your Torch has been part of my summer for almost a decade now, first as a youth participant and then as a Sister group leader. This year was a little different because we weren't able to stay for the full conference, but it's still always good to see familiar faces.

I'm hoping to get back to regular posting from here on out. Know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers!

News and Events: Fiat and Ignite Your Torch

Happy 4th of July! We are back from our retreat and ready to continue to do God's will.  There are a couple of trips that the sisters will be making this week.  We hope to see you at these events if you are nearby. If not, please pray for safe travels and that the young people who attend will be inspired to grow in their union with God.

One of the highlights of the summer for the sisters is the annual Ignite Your Torch retreat.  It is a Catholic Youth Conference and it is always a good time.  Sister Cecilia and Sister Elizabeth Ann will be attending.  Sister Elizabeth Ann will be giving a talk again this year.  At the last moment they had to change the venue but St. Anthony 'found' Ignite Your Torch a new home.  The people at Ignite do a wonderful job inspiring the youth and teaching them about the faith.

Sister Patricia Jean and Sister Mary Faustina will be attending the Fiat Retreat in the Harrisburg Diocese.  Our good friend, Bishop Gainer, invited our community to participate.  This will be the second year we have attended.  The sisters were so impressed that we are trying to get a similar event in our Diocese.

I hope you have a great summer.  Relax, enjoy yourself and don't forget to put God first in your summer plans.  Then you will not only be refreshed physically but spiritually as well.
